A Passion Project

The McKinney Family of Decatur, Tennessee, recently purchased the Eaves House in 2022 and has begun a long-term restoration of the property. This multi-year project will preserve the home’s historic character and ensure its future as a meaningful space for the community.

When the restoration is complete, the home will open to the public as a unique event venue.

Our Restoration Mission

Restoration Timeline

Structural Integrity

We expect the restoration of the Eaves House to take several years. Our first priority is safety—stabilizing the structure, securing the property, and addressing damage from years of vacancy. The house has been unoccupied since 1998 and has experienced significant deterioration and vandalism.

Preservation Efforts

A Work in Progress

Once the property is structurally sound, our goal is to restore as much of the home as possible to its original historic splendor. Each phase will be handled with care to preserve the character and craftsmanship that make the Eaves House so important to Meigs County.

Future Plans

A Gathering Place

In time, the property will reopen as a unique and memorable event venue for the community to enjoy. Our vision is to create a space that honors the home’s history while offering a welcoming setting for celebrations, gatherings, and special occasions.

Community Involvement

Resurrecting History

We would love to hear from anyone who has information, family stories, photographs, documents, or memories connected to the Eaves Ferry House. However, for safety and preservation reasons, the grounds are strictly closed to the public during restoration. Please do not visit the property without permission.
